This is one variety of my favorite flower, the bungah raya, the royal flower. That’s what it’s known as in Malaysia where it is the national flower. Around here, most people call it a hibiscus. This plant is by our front porch and is one of the most prolific I’ve ever had.

Yes, the flowers stay around all summer. The snakes come and go.
