Bungah Raya

This is one variety of my favorite flower, the bungah raya, the royal flower. That’s what it’s known as in Malaysia where it is the national flower. Around here, most people call it a hibiscus. This plant is by our front porch and is one of the most prolific I’ve ever had.

Very pretty! Flowers like that must make your gardening efforts worthwhile, regardless of the occasional big scary rat snake.

Yes, the flowers stay around all summer. The snakes come and go.
